Club History

Founded in the mid-1950s as Gloucester Civil Service AFC, our club has been at the heart of local football for over 70 years. After competing in the Cheltenham League, we moved to the Stroud League in 1985, where the club grew from one team to three and enjoyed success both on and off the pitch.

Memorable moments include our legendary 2005 ‘Invincibles’ season, where the First Team went unbeaten to win Division Two, another promotion-winning campaign in 2010, and the club’s transition to Old Richians FC following the closure of the Civil Service Club. The move ensured the club’s players, values and community remained together.

Today, Old Richians FC continues to build on that proud legacy. Following a remarkable 2025/26 season, the First Team secured promotion to the Gloucestershire Northern Senior League as Division Two champions and completed a historic league and cup double.
